WGBY’s Learn What You Can View, Read, AND Do!
Through a partnership with Springfield Day Nursery and the Springfield Republican, WGBY regularly offers a new View, Read, and Do theme of activities, books, and shows to experience with your family. Whether you’re a parent, grand parent, child care provider, aunt, uncle, or family friend: you are an educator and a valuable asset for your child to learn how to read and grow!
Each theme offers books, activities, and WGBY public television programming which applies to the weekly theme. Each learning triangle activity is designed to have multiple activities designed to increase your child’s opportunity to learn about their world. Whether it’s fairy tales, the ocean, or music and sound: check back often for a new activity idea!

DO!
* Cooking together is a great way to strengthen number skills. How many ears of corn did you put in the pot? How many teaspoons of sugar do you need? Not making dinner from scratch tonight? Bake some cookies and have some fun counting chocolate chips!
* Learning about money is always a quick way to help with counting skills. Do you have a spare change jar in the house or in the car? Take a few minutes and count how many pennies, nickels, and quarters you have. Maybe even start a jar for your child; they'll love counting when its theirs!
* Grocery shopping is another great way to help young ones begin to count. Ask them to pick three tomatoes for you, or put two cucumbers in a bag. For older children, put them in charge of the grocery list and ask: "how many moe things do we have to buy?"
Check back next week for new View, Read, and Do information!
