A Local View of WWII

As the United States entered WWII, everyone in western New England found themselves swept up by world events and thrown into extra ordinary circumstances.

The government called for sacrifices, large and small, and the people in the communities through out this region joined together for the common good. 

From the Factories to the Front lines: Our Stories of WWII chronicles the challenges that people faced at home and abroad.  Many local factories retooled and began operating around the clock to supply the war effort. There were shortages and rationing of everything needed by the troops from meat and sugar to tires and typewriters. 

Life would never be the same for the people affected by World War II and when it was over, they would all have a story to tell.
