Fenway Park, part 2

Susan in her studio Fenway Park, part 2 painting

Boston, MA

Located in Boston Massachusetts is where you will find this week’s subject, the home of the 2004 World Champion Boston Red Sox.

Since 1912, this beautiful old park has been home to some of the most exciting and heart wrenching games any baseball fan could endure. Its grounds have been graced by many Hall of Famers including such Red Sox notables as Bobby Doer, Joe Cronin, Carl Yastremski, Ted Williams and Carlton Fisk.

If you didn’t get a chance to see last week’s show, we started on my rendition of Fenway Park. Fenway is Major League Baseball's oldest and smallest ballpark. It’s been the site of some of the most memorable moments in all of sports.

Now, I’ll admit, I’m not much of a baseball fan, so you’ll have to forgive me if I don’t have the same passion and giddiness my crew did they day we were at the park, but the old place has a lot of charm.

I wasn’t only taken in by its history and unique structural elements. I loved walking around the outside of the stadium prior to the game and getting a real feel for the area and the fans. I took a few photos and did a few other studies of the area as well, just to show you that when you have an opportunity to travel, don’t just settle on one thing, look around, you never know what might make for a good painting.

So today, we’ll focus on putting the finishing touches on our beloved Fenway park. The angle we are painting from is high above the right field line and provides me with a lot of detail and architectural challenges because of the way the ball park turns (sits) and angles so much.
