WHY SHOULD YOU ATTEND?

For over 30 years, supporters of public television and PBS member station WGBY have put their palates to work to help raise funds for the programs they trust and love. But the good feeling you get from participating in this charity event isn't the only benefit.

With a general admission or “Wine Connoisseur” upgrade, you will be able to sample a wide variety (over 300, in fact) of wines, beers, and food specialties. View the Complete Tasting Program (PDF) »

Each guest will be given a “Tasting Program” that will list each item available for sample (and all wines and beers will be available for purchase through event sponsor Table & Vine). We encourage wine tasters to make note of grape varietals, vineyard designations, appellations, and styles.

WHAT IS A CONNOISSEUR UPGRADE?

While all the wines available for tasting at the WGBY Wine Lovers Weekend have been carefully selected, some wines are especially rare or valuable. Exclusive access to this special selection of finer wines is available with a $26 Connoisseur Upgrade.

WHAT'S THE SATURDAY DINNER ALL ABOUT?

The Friday March 10th event marks the largest wine, beer, and food tasting in western New England. But the Saturday event is equally special, though for different reasons.

The Wine Lovers Dinner on Saturday, March 11 features a seven-course meal carefully designed by WGBY guest chef Andreas Viestad, host of the popular PBS cooking show, New Scandinavian Cooking.  Viestad will be present during the dinner to help explain his methodologies and ideas. Meanwhile, Viestad’s menu will be executed by the award-winning culinary team directed by Marriott executive chef Bill Rounds.

Amid the seven courses of mouth-watering food will be carefully and expertly paired wines. Learn about each pairing, and discover the ways wine and food marry on the palate.  See Dinner Menu & Make Reservations »

WHAT ABOUT AGE LIMITS & SAFETY?

The WGBY Wine Lovers Weekend is an adult-only (21+ years of age) affair. Responsible drinking is strongly encouraged. That being said, the event takes place at the Springfield Marriott, which has rooms available. In addition, the Yellow Cab taxi company (413-739-9999) will be operating independently each night of Wine Weekend. .
