The Asparagus Festival celebrates the region's rich agricultural history with fun learning and hands-on opportunities for both children and adults inside the festival Demo Tent. In 2019, the special speakers' theme was "Climate Change and Agriculture."

11 a.m. America's Test Kitchen Demonstration

Get ready for an asparagus demo from the culinary pros of public television.

Dan Souza is editor-in-chief of Cook’s Illustrated. He’s an on-screen test cook and science expert for America’s Test Kitchen and a regular contributor to public radio program The Splendid Table.

Christie Morrison is senior editor of special projects at America's Test Kitchen, an instructor for America's Test Kitchen Cooking School, and an on-screen test cook for Cook’s Country from America’s Test Kitchen

Following the demonstration, the chefs will sign copies of their book, which will be made available for purchase by The Odyssey Bookshop.

10–3 p.m. — Climate Change & Agriculture

Throughout the day, informational displays and booths on the subject of climate change and agriculture will be presented in nearby tents by:

  • Arcardia Wildlife Sanctuary (Mass Audubon)
  • UMass Amherst Sustainabe Food & Farming
  • Northeast Organic Farming Assoc. (Mass. Chapter)
