Healing Racism: A Community Dialogue

Participate in a live community forum about race relations in western New England with social media hashtag #wgbydialogue.

Healing Racism: A Community Dialogue
Thursday, Feb. 23 at WGBY in Springfield

In keeping with its mission to “educate, entertain, inspire, and connect our diverse community,” WGBY offers a live "town hall-style" forum about race relations here in western New England.

WGBY and its community partner Healing Racism Institute of Pioneer Valley present local guests and invite public discourse. The program is hosted by public media journalist Tina Martin (WBGH’s Greater Boston and Basic Black).

Following a brief introduction to the work of the Healing Racism Institute of Pioneer Valley, Martin will welcome contributing panelists before a live studio audience. Panelists include:

  • Lisa Bakowski, Principal of Boland Elementary School in Springfield, Mass.;
  • Heshimi Moja, Co-Faciltator, Healing Racism Institute Pioneer Valley;
  • Bishop Talbert Swan, President of the Springfield, Mass. NAACP; and
  • David Woods, Founder of Leadership Pioneer Valley.

The viewing audience is encouraged to participate in the discussion before, during, and after the show using hashtag #wgbydialogue on Facebook and Twitter (@wgby).

Special thanks to the Beveridge Family Foundation for making this special evening possible.
