WGBY's Jim Madigan Fund

WGBY's Jim Madigan Fund in Support of Local Public Media Journalism

Support responsible LOCAL public media journalism — now and in the future.

In this time of deep division, public broadcasting provides a space for news reports and analyses free of hyperbole and rancor — especially important on the local level, where news and policies affect us directly.

Jim Madigan (1952–2018), longtime WGBY newsman, exemplified integrity and the precepts of responsible public media journalism. He served WGBY and the western New England region for nearly 30 years.

WGBY’s Jim Madigan Fund honors his legacy by supporting local public media content for the particular purpose of producing and advancing public multimedia journalism, including the education of tomorrow’s local journalists in the areas of reporting, media arts, and broadcasting.

FUND GOAL

The goal of WGBY’s Jim Madigan Fund is to raise $50,000 for the local production of responsible journalism and the training of tomorrow’s principled reporters right here in western New England.

METHODOLOGY

Your tax-deductible contribution to the Jim Madigan Fund will enable WGBY to:

  • Produce local, trustworthy public media content for multimedia consumption.
  • Inform the region's electorate about ballot questions and candidate positions.
  • Address timely social issues with lively, televised town hall-style panel discussions.
  • Prepare tomorrow’s journalists with hands-on internships and fellowships.

REWARD

By giving to the Jim Madigan Fund, you will take pride knowing local public media journalism is more secure in our region. Donors who give $100+ may also choose to be listed on wgby.org. Donors at the $1,000+ level may receive on-air acknowledgement and their name showcased in the lobby at WGBY.
