Mister Rogers takes Barney, the dog, out for a walk. In the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, Ana decides what she'd really like for her birthday is a kitten. Lady Elaine Fairchilde is very busy planning a big birthday parade for Ana with a whale, apes, and Purple Panda.

Mister Rogers visits the National Zoological Park in Washington, D.C. where he helps prepare food for the Giant Pandas. In the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, Ana endures the elaborate birthday parade and finally receives her birthday present a kitten to love and hug.

The Neighborhood of Make-Believe story revolves around King Friday's command that all Neighbors celebrate a "Bass Violin Festival." When it's pointed out that he is the only one in the Neighborhood who plays the instrument, he says, "Well, it looks like I'll have a large audience."

Mister Rogers visits the Empire Brass Quintet and notes that it's fun to hear all the instruments playing. If you listen carefully, you can hear each one, but they all make "one song." In the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, Neighbors get ready for the Bass Violin Festival.

Mister Rogers' friend, Tom O'Horgan, shows viewers his collection of unusual musical instruments. All Neighbors from Westwood, Southwood, and Northwood join in to celebrate a Bass Violin Festival.

Fred Rogers' musical story for children: "Windstorm in Bubbleland." There is never any trouble in Bubbleland until a windstorm threatens to destroy everything. Hildegarde Hummingbird, the smallest creature of all, tries to warn everyone. She is ignored and leaves Bubbleland. The call for help goes out and Hildegarde returns to save Bubbleland by reminding people that friendship and honesty are more important than possessions, and that by working together, trouble can be overcome.
